Role & Responsibilities

The South Coast School Sport Board is responsible for organising and monitoring a program that promotes the development of sporting skills and abilities to a standard that will enable students to be selected in regional sporting teams capable of competing at a state level. An extended program is available for students to be selected from State championships to compete at national championships and interstate exchanges. Paralleling this is the incentive and encouragement for a skilled and professional group of teachers to demonstrate their abilities while working with highly motivated and talented students, and to be rewarded for their efforts by recognition of appointment to various levels of regional, state and national officialdom.

Location and Characteristics

Geographically the South Coast School Sport Region extends from the Shailer Park / Beenleigh area in the north to Coolangatta in the south and west to Beaudesert. South Coast School Sport operates across two Educational District boundaries. They are Gold Coast and approx 2/3rds of Logan-Albert Beaudesert District. The South Coast School Sport Office is located centrally within the region in the grounds of Keebra Park SHS.

Address: 56 Anne St Southport or PO Box 2818 Southport 4215

The South Coast School Sport region was first established in 1988, with major restructuring occurring in 1998. This restructuring saw the formation of a twelfth state sports region.
